There's games like Cruelty Squad that purposely try to emulate retro graphics just to appear quirky and unique. It's not only just isometric RPGs, but the whole fascination with retro things really bugs me. Now that we have the technology to create such worlds on a 3D scale, and there's people paying for 'throwback' games on Kickstarter budgets. I might indulge in playing one of them every so often, but even decades ago it was always understood that the reason isometric RPGs even existed was due to the technical limitations of 3D rendering in giving games the object and environmental detail that was required at the time. Tangentially related but I've never really understood the niche demand for traditional and isometric RPGs that has seen prominence in the past 10 years. But one sure can make some jab/insult regarding your awareness and level if intelligence. So why lifegiver but not fireproof? Why the useless perks? Where is ordinance express? Seriously, explain yourself. Like, what the fuck are you even doing?! I understand that you are using explosives. Only when you have so much scrap you need to haul it across the map.

Fallout's world was forgivably empty in some regard, because the emptiness gives it some sort of somber atmosphere that is expected of a jaunt across the wasteland, but if a 2022 game has worlds about as empty as a 2007 game, it's going to be pretty disappointing, no matter how big they are. The worry is that they'll reuse the Fallout 4 settlement mechanic and turn every planet's map into 70% worth of settlement land. I trust Bethesda to pull it off because they've not given me any reason to doubt them in this regard every world they've built has had some sort of charm to it, even if the worlds in their older titles had considerably more charm. Hope it will rekindle the same feelings I had exploring the uncharted worlds in the first Mass Effect, not the sheer frustration of trying to find minerals but the sense of wonder and exploration. Or they could just reduce the size and add more interactivity, but size sells I suppose. They've shown off the spaceship but I'm thinking that's only going to find use when travelling between worlds, possibly some kind of fast travel. Now imagine just how much space will be nothing more than patches of grass and fields of nothing out in the wilderness.Д«ethesda have to include rovers or some other kind of vehicle in this game so it's not a chore to play.
